August 29, 2012. Viber, one of ScienceSoft’s customers, received an extensive coverage by Business Week. The article is dedicated to Viber’s development and its strategy.

Viber app has been downloaded more than 100 million times and allows its users to call, text, and send photos worldwide. Unlike Skype, Viber was designed as a mobile application in the first place which allows it to support features that are unavailable in the rival’s app.

Howard Hartenbaum, an original investor in Skype, in his interview to Business Week, points out: “I don’t think Viber is going to put Skype out of business. But they could pass Skype from the mobile perspective.”

ScienceSoft mobile developers had been working on Viber project for more than 1.5 years and made a tangible contribution to it. ScienceSoft developed Android and WP7 versions of the application which allowed Viber to significantly widen its market.

Nick Kurayev, CEO at ScienceSoft: “ScienceSoft is always enthusiastic to engage with bright and promising startup companies with ambitions to change the world. We are thrilled to be able to contribute to their success.”
