Early project risk identification

Julia Lebedeva is the Head of Healthcare IT Practice and Presales Manager at ScienceSoft. She oversees competency development in the healthcare domain across the company and coordinates early planning for healthcare software projects.

Julia has worked in IT since 2017, with experience in software quality assurance, business analysis, project management, and presales. Having worked at different stages of software delivery, she understands how early assumptions can affect requirements, estimates, risks, team composition, and project execution later on.

As a Presales Manager, Julia coordinates early discussions with prospective healthcare clients and the preparation of project proposals. She brings together relevant business and technical specialists, helps organize their input, and checks that proposed commitments are based on a clear understanding of the client’s goals, constraints, and industry context.

Julia’s attention to detail and sense of responsibility in healthcare engagements led her to become Head of ScienceSoft’s Healthcare IT Practice in 2025. In this role, she introduced a more structured approach to organizing the work, with designated owners for key healthcare subdomains and separate tracks for building the required competencies.

Today, Julia determines what healthcare knowledge employees need for their project responsibilities, overseeing the company's healthcare IT certification efforts and continuous learning programs. She also supports healthcare-focused R&D initiatives that explore the practical potential of emerging technologies, such as multi-agent AI systems for healthcare.

Recently, Julia helped turn the preparation of several specialists for the CAHIMS certification into a company-wide learning opportunity. Employees who had completed the required HIMSS onboarding course shared key covered concepts through a series of internal sessions, making foundational healthcare IT knowledge accessible to hundreds of specialists across the company.

In healthcare, the earlier you bring up the difficult questions, the fewer surprises you leave for the delivery team and the client. My job is to make sure our teams know the field well enough to accurately grasp the context and risks of each initiative before making assumptions and promises.
