Practice Management Software with CPT/ICD-10 Code Suggestions and DICOM Gateway
Challenge
The Customer needed to improve and expand a solution for carrying out such daily clinical routine as examination and treatment, billing and reporting. ScienceSoft was chosen from the group of other medical app development companies due to its 11-year experience in healthcare IT solutions.
Solution
Our team created a comprehensive web application with extended functionality for small and mid-size practices, including:
- Patient records with examination results and the physician information
- Physician base
- Physician orders (orders for carrying out an X-ray, ultrasound or other examination)
- Messaging system
- Revenue cycle management
- Reporting
First things first, the user has a dashboard with direct access to Messages, Work Flow, Patient Overview and Reminders. It helps the health professional to instantly check his Inbox, access patient information and keep track of upcoming events, such as patient examinations or discharges.
Workflow is a key feature in health specialists’ daily round as it allows to place an order for a specific examination, check visit schedule and track exam results. There’s no need to type in the exact CPT code/name (e.g. abdominal ultrasound) or ICD code/name (e.g. gastroesophageal reflux disease). The user can choose the needed procedure or diagnosis from the list with the help of convenient search by any substring.
Moreover, the system is backed by a DICOM gateway, which uploads orders for examination, modifies them into the DICOM format and sends to the application of particular medical equipment. When the diagnostic image (X-ray, ECG tracing, tomogram etc.) is taken, the gateway uploads it back to the system, automatically attaching the image to a certain patient’s record.
Results
The Customer received a universal, easy-to-use platform for health organizations, which provides an extensive functionality to ease up caregivers’ daily routine, such as carrying out examination and treatment, billing and reporting and automates the attachment of diagnostic results to patient information.
