Before transitioning to IT, Kate worked as a general practitioner for three years, treating patients in outpatient and hospital settings. Her day-to-day work covered patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, medical documentation creation, healthcare reporting, and collaboration with multidisciplinary care teams. This background gives Kate a practical view of the constraints healthcare organizations face, including limited time for decision-making, documentation burden, and fragmented workflows.

At the start of her IT career, Kate was involved in software testing, demo coordination, and product demonstrations. This experience gave her a working understanding of the software development life cycle, quality assurance, stakeholder communication, requirements clarification, and solution presentation.

As a Healthcare IT and AI Consultant at ScienceSoft, Kate analyzes healthcare workflows and translates them into clear requirements for software and AI-powered solutions. She works at the intersection of clinical practice, business analysis, and technical delivery, shaping solution concepts that account for real provider workflows, patient communication scenarios, usability, and implementation constraints.

Kate’s current focus is on the practical use of AI in healthcare. She contributes medical expertise to AI-powered healthcare initiatives, evaluating whether AI-powered workflows reflect realistic clinical and administrative scenarios, where automation can drive maximum value, and where human review or escalation is still necessary.

Among Kate’s recent projects is ScienceSoft’s HIPAA-compliant AI voice scheduler powered by Amazon Nova Sonic. The solution automates patient scheduling through real-time, human-like conversations and supports appointment booking, rescheduling, cancellation, patient identity verification, and integration with healthcare systems. Kate helped review the solution from the clinical workflow perspective, paying attention to how patients communicate their needs, how scheduling scenarios unfold in real life, and where the AI assistant should escalate to human staff. The demo was named a semifinalist in the Amazon Nova Partner Demo Competition.

Kate also eagerly shares her clinical and healthcare IT experience with ScienceSoft’s teams. Some of her recent internal sessions covered X-ray workflows in real clinical settings, the gap between clinical workflows and software UX, and telehealth from the clinician’s perspective.
