Integration of Sticker Market into Viber Mobile App

Client

The Client, an international company, is the developer of Viber – an instant messaging and VoIP app that has over 900 million active users all over the world.

Challenge

Since there were a lot of similar applications on the market, Viber Media soon realized that they needed to stand out from competitors not only by offering lower prices, but also by providing more functionality. That is why they’ve decided to integrate a Sticker Market into the app.

Solution

In addition to already providing Viber with custom mobile app development, ScienceSoft was requested to create a backend service for in-app purchases (stickers). To complete the project, ScienceSoft had to do the following:

• Provide Specification
• Create Purchase validation service
• Create Add product service
• Create Remove product service
• Create Get products service
• Implement deployment scripts with separate configuration files for each environment
• Create monitoring

It was decided to use Zend Framework 1 while the purchase validation service was based on Android, iTunes and Windows Phone in-app purchase API.

Results

As a result, Viber Media enriched its app with a nice and functional sticker market that allowed its users to download free sticker sets as well as to buy additional paid collections. The market contains more than a dozen sticker sets with a unique design.

Sticker Market made the app even more attractive to users. In addition, it helped Viber stand out from competitors and take a leading position on the market.
