B2B Portal for Medical Equipment Manufacturer Prototyped in 4 Weeks
About Our Client
The Client is a trusted US-based provider of medical evacuation equipment and other emergency essentials for hospitals and other B2B clients.
The Drive to Serve Customers More Effectively
In an industry where many competitors rely on traditional methods, our Client aimed to differentiate themselves by embracing digital transformation. They envisioned a digital platform to streamline procurement and inventory management of emergency supplies for the organizations they support. This strategic move would strengthen their client-centric approach and provide unparalleled convenience to their customers.
Blueprinting an Efficient B2B Portal and Inventory Application
To turn the Client's vision into reality, ScienceSoft provided a dedicated team comprising a project manager, a business analyst, a UI designer, and a solution architect. The team’s approach was based on close collaboration with the Client. We held multiple in-depth workshops and brainstorming sessions with the Client to gain a deep understanding of their unique business needs and challenges. By analyzing existing workflows, our team identified the best opportunities for improvement and automation, ensuring that the proposed solutions would be both practical and impactful. To maximize efficiency, we prioritized requirements based on cost/value and designed the functionality iteratively — in 2-day sprints — starting with high-value, low-cost features.
As a result, we delivered an architecture, an integrations roadmap, a detailed backlog, a user matrix, and UI mockups, forming the foundation for three interconnected systems:
B2B customer portal
A robust, user-friendly platform designed to streamline product discovery, order management, and customer interactions.
- Provides the Client’s customers with a comprehensive product catalog.
- Enables order planning, placement, and tracking.
- Supports draft orders and wish lists.
- Facilitates shipment quote requests, purchase orders, and invoice generation.
- Integrates a notification system to keep users informed of order statuses and other key updates.
- Allows role-based access for multiple users within an organization.
- Integrates with a payment gateway, supporting all key payment methods.
- Delivers educational content, including training on product usage and inventory management.
Mobile inventory management application
A powerful tool designed to simplify supply management and reordering for the Client’s customers’ inventory specialists.
- Streamlines inventory item management by allowing users to record incoming and outgoing stock by QR code scanning.
- Tracks item locations across storage areas, ensuring quick retrieval and optimized inventory organization.
- Monitors expiration dates and enables automated reordering to prevent shortages.
- Provides access to product-related documentation and training materials.
- Integrates with the B2B portal and ERP system, ensuring consistent and accurate data.
Admin panel
A centralized hub for managing customers, orders, and system performance.
- Unified customer account management for better control over user access and activity.
- Order processing tools to streamline fulfillment and track transactions.
- Analytics dashboards to monitor portal and mobile app performance, user engagement, and operational efficiency.
We provided clickable prototypes showcasing the functionality of the future systems. The prototypes of the B2B portal and mobile inventory management app would allow the Client to gather customer feedback, ensuring the solutions aligned with user needs and providing a solid foundation for further decisions about the project's feasibility.
Three Solutions Prototyped in 4 Weeks
In just four weeks, the Client received detailed, interactive prototypes for their B2B customer portal, mobile inventory app, and admin panel. These designs transformed a complex initiative into a clear and actionable roadmap. The Client was thrilled to introduce the portal’s prototype to customers. They believe that this would reinforce their role as a partner, not just a supplier, as well as help position them as an innovative leader in the emergency preparedness industry.
