Beauty Product Delivery App for GlamRush2U Launched in 6 Months
Summary
ScienceSoft partnered with US startup GlamRush2U to engineer a first-of-its-kind app that delivers beauty products and fashion items straight to users’ doors. With ScienceSoft’s assistance, GlamRush2U went from an idea to a fully functional MVP in just 6 months.
About GlamRush2U
Yolanda Mack, visionary CEO and Founder of GlamRush2U, experienced the struggle of finding the right beauty products on demand. While styling her hair, she urgently needed hair glue — and quickly realized that traditional platforms like Amazon offered no real-time solutions, while Instacart offered only a limited selection. That moment of frustration sparked a bold idea. Determined to solve this challenge, Yolanda envisioned GlamRush2U — an innovative app designed to provide instant access to beauty essentials, empower local retailers, and create new opportunities for personal shopping assistants.
Users can order beauty products directly from the app, selecting items from local partner stores. Once an order is placed, a personal shopping assistant — essentially the delivery agent — picks up the items from the nearest available store and delivers to the customer within an hour. If a product is unavailable, the assistant can contact the customer to suggest substitutions, ensuring a seamless shopping experience. Local sellers can upload their product catalogs to the app, making their inventory instantly accessible to customers and expanding their reach. This workflow combines real-time availability, personalized service, and local inventory management to create a smooth, convenient shopping experience.
However, transforming this high-level idea into a fully operational platform required a reliable technology partner with experience in on-demand delivery apps and rapid product delivery. That’s where ScienceSoft stepped in.
Rapid Development of On-Demand Beauty Product Delivery Service
Discovery and planning phase
ScienceSoft began with an intensive discovery phase to fully understand GlamRush2U’s vision and user needs. During this period, the team completed the following objectives:
- Conducted daily interviews with GlamRush2U’s CEO, COO, Creative Director, Customer Success Director, and Driver (Personal Shopping Assistant) Relations Director to capture detailed business and technical requirements.
- Mapped requirements for all key user segments: customers, personal shopping assistants, partner stores, and admins.
- Defined the end-to-end order fulfillment processes, including shopping assistant interactions, store inventory updates, and customer notifications.
- Identified the essential scope to meet GlamRush2U’s time and budget constraints, distinguishing must-have from nice-to-have features and planning their delivery across iterations. Non-essential features, such as detailed transaction listings already available via Stripe, were strategically deprioritized to avoid feature duplication and keep development lean.
- Defined the requirements for integration with PoS systems (Shopify, Clover, Square), payment gateways (Stripe), communication tools (Twilio), and subscription management platforms (RevenueCat).
ScienceSoft structured the resulting product vision around the following core components:
- A cross-platform mobile app for customers and personal shopping assistants.
- A web app for partner stores.
- An admin web app.
Key features by user group included:
Customer functionality
- Creating a secure personal account with profile, payment, and billing information.
- Browsing products by category or store.
- Placing orders instantly and paying via Stripe, with optional delivery priority fees and shopping assistant service fees or tips.
- Choosing alternative products in case the desired item is unavailable in the store.
- Tracking order progress in real time.
- Communicating with personal shopping assistants via in-app chat or anonymized Twilio calls for substitutions.
- Subscribing to a premium plan for free priority delivery.
Personal shopping assistant functionality
- Creating and managing a secure account with a profile and payment details.
- Communicating with customers via in-app chat or anonymized Twilio calls.
- Scanning barcodes for quick product confirmation.
- Confirming deliveries and updating order status.
- Viewing earnings and performance statistics directly in the app.
Partner store functionality
- Creating and managing a store account.
- Adding new products manually or uploading them via CSV, XLS(X), or barcode scanning.
- Syncing inventory and pricing data from existing PoS apps (e.g., Shopify, Clover, Square) through GlamRush2U’s integration layer.
- Monitoring sales and fulfillment metrics via dashboards.
Admin functionality
- Managing customer, assistant, and partner store accounts.
- Managing personal shopping assistants: onboarding, monitoring availability, and resolving disputes.
- Viewing and analyzing orders and deliveries.
- Monitoring system performance.
- Managing customer subscriptions, setting up promotional campaigns, and approving new retailers.
Once the MVP scope was finalized, ScienceSoft advised GlamRush2U on technology and delivery options (cross-platform vs. native, fully custom vs. low-code), weighing cost, scalability, and time-to-market as key considerations. Ultimately, a cross-platform mobile app with a low-code platform (Appsmith) for front-end interfaces of the web parts was chosen to accelerate delivery and optimize budget.
Within a month, the complete solution design was ready, setting the stage for efficient development.
Development and launch
With discovery and planning wrapped up, ScienceSoft assembled a cross-functional app development team. The team included back-end and mobile developers, a full-stack engineer specializing in low-code solutions, a QA engineer, a business analyst (also acting as proxy product owner), and a project manager. DevOps and UI design specialists joined the team on demand.
Over four months, ScienceSoft’s team worked in 2-week iterations, focusing on delivering small, functional increments to gather early feedback from stakeholders and validate features. The team met with GlamRush2U’s leadership twice a week to discuss open questions, and held demo sessions every other Friday to allow GlamRush2U see progress firsthand. A Confluence-based project knowledge repository served as a single source of truth, keeping documentation transparent, streamlining information access and approvals, and helping the involved parties swiftly resolve urgent questions.
ScienceSoft drove the project with a focus on efficiency and speed. The team mapped the critical path and prioritized interdependent tasks to secure the fastest possible MVP launch. The critical path boiled down to: customer orders → store products visible → assistant fulfills → payment processed → delivery confirmed → admin governance. These functions were treated as must-haves for a viable first release. All other features, such as advanced analytics, integrations with Shopify and Clover, and subscription management, were acknowledged as important but not mission-critical. They were strategically planned for later releases to enrich the user experience and extend operational efficiency, while the MVP stayed lean and focused. This disciplined approach ensured that every sprint delivered meaningful progress. At the same time, the architecture was kept flexible, laying the foundation for seamless app expansion in future releases.
To support promotion ahead of the official release, ScienceSoft also proposed and prepared clickable prototypes that helped GlamRush2U generate buzz and attract first adopters. Ultimately GlamRush2U secured more than $500K in pre-seed investment and drew a strong interest from investors. The first version of the app was successfully launched in November 2025.
Yolanda Mack, CEO and Founder of GlamRush2U, says:
Partnering with ScienceSoft has been a blessing, and I am amazed by the sheer talent they have shown and demonstrated. I am thankful to God for the relationship, as they have been instrumental in birthing the GlamRush2U baby. I now have a newfound appreciation for mobile apps and the incredible technical expertise required to bring these types of visions to life. Together, we’re redefining what’s possible, one glam moment at a time.
Key Outcomes for GlamRush2U
- A ready-to-launch GlamRush2U MVP, complete with a cross-platform mobile app for shoppers and shopping assistants, a partner store web portal, and an admin panel, was delivered in just 6 months.
- A clear prioritization of MVP features during discovery and project management ensured essential functionality was delivered first, while nice-to-haves were deferred, preventing scope and cost creep and enabling a rapid launch of a shippable first version.
- Strategic technology stack choices, such as using a low-code platform for web app development, helped optimize resources and significantly reduce project time and costs.
- Receiving clickable prototypes alongside the MVP helped GlamRush2U attract early adopters and promote the platform even before its official launch.
