The Customer is a US telemedicine platform that allows physicians to connect with their patients for routine follow-up appointments over secure video conference.
Challenge
The Customer needed an Android version of their telehealth app to expand the offering of mobile patient applications for patients and physician practices.
Solution
ScienceSoft’s medical app development team created a HIPAA-compliant Android application that helps patients book appointments and make conference calls with their physicians through an encrypted peer-to-peer video connection.
The app seamlessly integrates with existing practice workflows (e.g. scheduling) and management systems (e.g. EHR / EMR, RIS, LIS). Doctors can offer patients remote care and replace unpaid phone calls with reimbursable video visits, improving outcomes by 3%-4%.
Patient data is synced with the practice management system right before the conference starts so that the physician can have the necessary information at their fingertips.
Patients can access the following functionality:
User profile: changing profile picture, password and personal data, such as address and contact information.
Video appointments: viewing the list of previous and forthcoming appointments as well as arranging the next appointment. Upon creating a new video call with the assigned doctor, the patient is able to check and edit their insurance information and proceed to the conference with the physician.
Insurance information: adding insurance provider details. Patients might also choose the self-pay option.
Payment options: adding and changing credit card information and attaching a new card to account.
Results
The Customer received a HIPAA-compliant Android version of the telehealth platform. The patients can use this software to book appointments and get video consultations in the following cases:
