Senior Windows and Linux Administrator
We are looking for an experienced Windows & Linux Administrator to provide hands-on systems administration and operational support in a production video game studio environment.
Scope of Services
The Service Provider shall deliver hands-on systems administration and operational support services for Windows and Linux environments operating in a production video game studio context, under the direction of Steer Studios IT leadership.
Service Responsibilities:
Operating Systems and Platforms
Provide administration and support for the following operating systems and platforms:
- Windows 11 (end-user workstation support).
- Windows Server (2016, 2019, 2022).
- Linux distributions including Ubuntu, RHEL, CentOS, and Debian.
- On-premises VMware vSphere environments.
- Production build machines used by development and content teams.
Systems Administration
Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows and Linux systems.
Perform operating system patching, monitoring, performance tuning, and basic capacity management.
Support backup and disaster recovery processes for on-premises and cloud-connected systems.
Identity, Endpoint, and Cloud Services
Administer and support Active Directory, Group Policy Objects (GPOs), Microsoft Entra ID, and Microsoft Intune.
Provide operational support for Microsoft 365 cloud services and related identity integrations.
Employee Support (Level 2 / Level 3)
Resolve Level 2 and Level 3 employee support tickets related to studio infrastructure, including issues across Microsoft 365 services, identity platforms, virtualized environments, and production build systems.
Virtualization and Storage
Support VMware vSphere infrastructure, including virtual machine lifecycle management, troubleshooting, and performance support.
Assist with Windows and Linux-based storage systems and NAS platforms.
Automation and Scripting
Automate routine operational and administrative tasks using PowerShell, Bash, Python, or equivalent scripting languages.
Security and Compliance
Adhere to defined security baselines, access control requirements, and patching standards.
Support security and compliance audits as required.
Documentation and Collaboration
Maintain accurate documentation for system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting.
Collaborate effectively with senior infrastructure engineers, production teams, and IT stakeholders.
Service Availability
Services shall be delivered during standard business hours.
On-call availability outside standard business hours may be required during production incidents or peak operational periods.
Service Provider Qualifications
Assigned personnel shall have 3–6 years of hands-on experience administering Windows and Linux environments, including workstation, server, virtualization, and cloud-integrated systems.
Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal, are mandatory. Personnel must be capable of clearly documenting work performed and communicating effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Certifications
Preferred certifications include Microsoft Certified Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate, Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA), VMware Certified Professional (VCP), CompTIA Linux+, or CompTIA Security+.
Governance and Reporting
The Service Provider shall report operational activities, issues, and risks to the Steer Studios IT Infrastructure Manager and participate in periodic service and performance reviews.
