Middle Data Engineer
We are looking for a Middle Data Engineer to join our data team.
Responsibilities:
Design and Develop Reports
- Create, maintain, and optimize SSRS reports based on business requirements.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather reporting needs and translate them into technical specifications.
- Ensure reports are visually clear, accurate, and performance-optimized.
Migrate Crystal Reports to SSRS
- Analyze existing Crystal Reports and convert them to SSRS while preserving functionality and layout.
- Identify and resolve compatibility issues during migration.
- Document migration processes and maintain version control.
Manage Data Sources and Datasets
- Configure and maintain shared data sources and datasets for reporting solutions.
- Ensure secure, efficient, and reliable access to data.
- Optimize queries and data models to support reporting needs.
Report Testing and Validation
- Perform unit, integration, and user acceptance testing (UAT) on reports and ETL processes.
- Validate data accuracy and consistency across reports.
- Work with QA and business teams to resolve discrepancies and ensure quality.
Documentation and Support
- Maintain technical documentation for reports, ETL processes, and data flows.
- Provide support and training to end-users on report usage and interpretation.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to reporting and data delivery.
Query Performance Tuning
- Analyze and optimize SQL queries, indexes, and execution plans to ensure efficient data retrieval.
Requirements
Technical Skills:
- Crystal Reports: Strong understanding of report structures, formulas, and data sources.
- SSRS: Proficiency in designing, deploying, and managing SSRS reports.
- SQL Server: Advanced SQL skills, including stored procedures, views, and functions.
- ETL Tools: Familiarity with SSIS or other ETL platforms.
- Data Modeling: Understanding of relational databases and data warehouse concepts.
- B1-B2 in English (spoken and written) for documentation, collaboration, and stakeholder communication.
Migration Experience:
- Hands-on experience converting Crystal Reports to SSRS.
- Ability to analyze existing Crystal Reports logic and replicate it in SSRS.
- Knowledge of differences in formatting, parameters, and data handling between platforms.
Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Good communication skills to work with stakeholders and document requirements.
- Attention to detail for validating report accuracy post-migration.
Bonus Skills
- Experience with Power BI or other modern BI tools.
- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).
- Knowledge of report scheduling and automation.
- Experience with Azure Data Factory for orchestrating data pipelines.
