The Client is a US community bank providing full-cycle banking, lending, and wealth management services to individuals and businesses. The bank offers a proprietary suite of digital tools to streamline cash management and payments for its corporate customers.
Onsite-Only Financial Servicing Needed Digital Transformation
The Client used to rely on in-person consultations and offline marketing to promote its financial services and software products. The need to manually engage each new customer burdened the bank’s service representatives and slowed down servicing processes. Customers had to contact the bank directly for information about financial service offerings, cash management software packages, and ways to resolve software-related issues. This created friction and, over time, decreased customer satisfaction.
The Client wanted to create a website that would showcase comprehensive, structured information about its financial services and digital tools, making it easier for customers to explore and select the right products. The website was to provide online educational resources that would describe the value of the bank’s financial products for consumers and businesses and explain the working principles of cash management tools to software users.
The Client lacked in-house software engineering and IT project management competencies and sought a reliable tech partner to for turnkey website development. Trusting ScienceSoft’s decades-long experience in web development and building custom software for financial services, the bank outsourced the project to ScienceSoft.
End-to-End Development of a Financial Service Website
ScienceSoft’s website development team interviewed the Client’s stakeholders to gather their requirements for the website. Next, the team researched the needs and expectations of the website's target users (consumers and SMBs in the bank’s operating area). The experts also analyzed competitors’ websites and proposed UX/UI features that would help the bank stand out in the busy digital finance market. The team reflected its findings and suggestions in a detailed functional specification for the solution.
During the discovery phase, ScienceSoft learned that the Client relied heavily on proprietary video content to promote its financial services and educate corporate customers on using the bank’s cash management tools. This insight affected the team’s approach to website technical design. The team opted to build the website on a content management system (CMS) to streamline video content publishing for the bank’s non-technical users. ScienceSoft picked a secure open-source CMS that had strong community support and promised high software longevity due to its scalability and progressive evolution. The CMS offered plenty of ready website components for free reuse, which minimized customization efforts and reduced the website’s TCO.
Next, ScienceSoft created UX wireframes and a UI kit for the bank’s website. The bank wanted its website to convey a sense of professionalism and stability to its customers. The UX/UI designer adhered to a clean and laconic aesthetic, reflecting the Client’s corporate identity elements and brand values. The expert designed each page with straightforward navigation and contrasting content blocks to enhance website usability and accessibility.
After the website’s design was approved by the Client, ScienceSoft moved to the implementation stage. The team developed the back-end and UI for the website, tested the solution’s functionality, performance, usability, and security, and set the website live.
The Client’s resulting financial service website is structured into two distinct spaces:
- A promotional hub. The promotional space contains the website’s home page, core financial service pages (consumer, commercial, and community banking, wealth management, investment, mortgage), and the bank’s featured offerings. It navigates users to the information about the bank and to educational resources.

- A video education platform. The educational space works as a video catalog with an intuitive search panel, allowing users to quickly find relevant content. ScienceSoft implemented functionality for video tagging (by service type, customer segment, etc.) and automated content suggestions based on the user’s content interaction history.
