Development for Android Platform
ScienceSoft mobile and wireless development department is introducing an up-to-minute solution - application modules for mobile devices with the Android platform. The Android platform was created by Google and the Open Handset Alliance and is based on Linux operating system. Android applications are developed using Java programming language. The Android platform was introduced on November 5th, 2007 and is at the moment a promising platform for GooglePhones and all range of modern mobile devices like predefined Google services: Weather, GoogleMap, iGoogle, RSS solutions, etc. Another advantage of this platform is that it is targeted at high-end mobile devices which have convenient touch screen user interface and support visual effects!
The Android platform is being used by many giant-leading companies as HTC, Motorola, LG, Samsung, T-Mobile, etc. (see http://www.openhandsetalliance.com/oha_members.html) and we believe it will be one of the leading mobile platforms in the nearest future.
Taking into consideration the popularity of applications for mobile devices and our extensive experience in developing mobile and wireless solutions, ScienceSoft developed two modules for mobile data management for Android as a demonstration the familiarity of our mobile team with the Android platform. Our goal was to provide a convenient, secure and extensible solution, with an intuitive interface, possibility to work with different data types and ability to integrate independent modules into one application as plug-ins.
As a result, our mobile development team created 2 modules for the Android platform:
- myCalendar, a popular custom calendar widget for storing different kinds of scheduling;
- myNotes, a module for users' note.
Both application use SQLite database to save and restore personal information and use extendable custom interface components which makes user experience more friendly and fancy.
